LOCAL RULES
Updated and clarified local rules
BOUNDARIES AND OUT OF BOUNDS
1. All fences and walls forming clear definable boundaries to the course.
2. All out of bounds areas, both internal and external will be marked with white markers.
3. The 5th and 6th holes: Bridle path is out of bounds.

GROUND UNDER REPAIR (“GUR”)
1. All areas of GUR will be marked with a white perimeter line. The player may take free relief under rule 16.1b. “Nearest point of relief, no nearer the hole”.
2. The fairway bunker to the left of the 18th is also GUR, although it may not always be marked as such. The player may take free relief under rule 16.1b.
3. Tyre tracks within the general area should be treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under rule 16.1b.
4. Piles of loose impediments (such as grass cuttings or leaves) that have been accumulated by greenkeeping staff within the general area should be treated as GUR. The player may take free relief under rule 16.1b.
5. Areas of damage in bunkers caused by animals such as dogs, deer, rabbits and badgers (including paw and hoof prints) are treated as ground under repair from which relief is allowed under Rule 16.1c. But relief is not allowed if the damage only interferes with the player’s stance or is caused by humans.

OBSTRUCTIONS.
1. Staked trees, telephone or electricity poles are deemed immovable obstructions-Rule 24-2 applies.
2. As a result of any storm damage, falling trees or other immoveable objects relief may be taken as an immovable obstruction Rule 16.3 without penalty. This applies within the general area.

OTHER RELIEF
1. Reliefs, one club length and drop, may be taken, with your marker’s agreement, for: (i) balls lying on, manmade paths, sprinkler heads (ii) for balls lying in divots on the fairways a finger roll may be used in non-qualifying competitions.
2. A ball striking any telegraph wires on the course must be played again.
3. Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions. Rule 15.1/15.2 applies.
4. An embedded ball within the general area, if agreed with your marker, may be lifted, cleaned and dropped within one club length, no nearer the hole. (An embedded ball is one sitting in its own pitch mark where part of the ball is below the level of the ground). Rule 16.3

LIGHTNING
In the event of a thunderstorm one continuous blast from the klaxon will be sounded, signalling the end of play. In our opinion you should place all golf clubs back in your bag steel umbrellas should be put down and you should return to the clubhouse immediately. Two short blasts will be sounded when it is safe to continue.

150 AND 100 YARD MARKERS
Brown stakes to the side of the fairways are 150 yards to the centre of the green and white markers are 100 yds to the centre of the green.

WINTER RULES
1. Winter rules are put in force on the advice of the Executive Officers of the Club, but may only be in operation between 1st October and 30th April, unless permission to extend is granted by the Kent Golf Union.
2. A ball landing on the fairway may be marked, lifted, cleaned and replaced within 6 inches, no nearer the hole.
3. Main Greens, not in use, should be treated as GUR. The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief, no nearer the hole.
