This annual Championship for elite amateur golfers from 7 counties - Yorkshire, Cumbria, Cheshire, Durham, Northumberland, Lancashire and Isle of Man - is a fiercely competitive team event. Each County selects a team of six to play 36-holes of medal golf with all twelve scores for each team counting. The County returning the lowest aggregate score is declared the winner and qualifies for the national finals. First played at Moortown in 1955 and most recently at Alnmouth in 2019, the Championship has been won by Yorkshire on 29 occasions, Lancashire on 18 and Northumberland on 12.
Hopwood has two familiar faces in the 2021 Championship, with Ciaran Doherty and Aiden Hoosen playing for Lancashire. These fantastic golfers will also compete for the Best Individual Gross Score which has been won in the past by some of the best amateurs in the North of England.
