COVID-19 Update - 17/03/2020
Given the developing picture with Covid-19 throughout the country we want to reassure you that Forres Golf Club are closely monitoring the situation and are taking the required steps to manage the threat of the virus to our members, staff and visitors. As noted in our previous email we have already taken some housekeeping steps to manage the threat and would also like to thank you for your co-operation in following the new procedures introduced to limit any potential threat of cross contamination throughout the golf club.

Following yesterday’s statement from the government we have taken the decision to cancel all upcoming social events at the golf club in the immediate future with the following events affected by this:

• Ladies Section Meal – 20/03/2020.
• Quiz & Chip Shop Night – 21/03/2020.
• Mother’s Day Lunch – 22/03/2020.
• All Friday Evening Meals – 20/03/2020 until further notice.
• Bridge Club Meal – 30/03/2020.

Despite this, I would like to note that there are no restrictions on playing golf or using our clubhouse facility and all scheduled golf fixtures will go ahead as planned and the clubhouse facilities will remain open unless we are instructed otherwise by Scottish Golf or the Government. In these difficult times it is important to remember the health benefits of golf as a sport that allows players to exercise outdoors in the fresh air where the risk of contracting COVID-19 is low. In order for you all to continue playing golf and enjoying the fresh air here are a few tips for staying safe when playing Golf:

• Booking online or by phoning the golf shop in order to reduce in-person contact.
• Wash your hands before entering the Golf Club using the hand sanitising units which are now in place throughout the building.
• Keep the flag stick in the hole during play.
• Enjoy the game whilst maintaining a safe social distance from your playing partners.
• Carry a hand sanitiser in your golf bad and repeat hand washing throughout your round.

As we find out more regarding this ongoing situation we will continue to monitor our own approach and will continue to update you throughout. If you have any concerns or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me.
