It was a comprehensive win for the four pairs, with most of the matches going to the last two holes. Alan Ratcliffe and Stuart Catton started the momentum with a brilliant 7 and 6 win, closely followed by the first pair out, Paul Plant and Nigel Phillips who won with a birdie on the 17th hole. Eric Stone and Ian Pagan went so close to getting a half against their strongest pairing, with their final putt on the last hole just slipping past the cup. The final pairing of Greg Ford and ever youthful Dougie Drummond also won their match on the 17th hole with Dougie sliding in a slippery six footer.
Several cups of tea were consumed in celebrating the win and the team behaved themselves with great decorum considering the amount of caffeine in their systems.
The venue for the Final will be decided once the Gilbert Print Plate semi’s have been completed on 19th August, with the Final itself being played on Monday 9th September. I am sure the team would appreciate anyone coming along to support on the day.
Well played to all the team and squad, congratulations on reaching the Final.
