Competition Entry Fees
Over the past six months, the Competitions and Handicap Committee has been reviewing entry fees against the amount we pay out in vouchers. Overall, there is a small residual which has to cover costs, such as engraving the trophies, updating the competition boards, purchase of replica trophies, the charge for the computer software used to run the competitions and costs associated with running club teams, such as the Brookes, Scratch and Triang.
In recent years, there has been an increase in these costs and on some occasions the club has paid out more in vouchers than has been received in entry fees, especially on a Sunday. As a result of the pressures, the committee feels it is necessary to increase the competition entry fee from £2 to £3. The last time there was an increase was over 10 years ago. This means that to enter a competition, the cost will be £4 which includes the twos sweep.
To sweeten this blow we have increased the prize fund. Having reviewed the amounts paid in the past, we felt there was an imbalance between first, second and third, consequently, we have increased the voucher payments as follows and where possible, added a further category.
In addition, we have agreed minimum entry numbers for all competitions and should the entries fall below these minimums, those playing will receive vouchers for the amount taken for the competition on the day; for example, if only 10 people enter, there will be a pot of £30 which will be paid to the winners only. Details of voucher payments are shown below.
