COURSE NEWS 20th APRIL
Easter Schedule
Easter is two 4-day weeks in succession which Gavin has to consider in his work plans. The team are still coming in to light frosts early in the morning (06:00), so there is little vigour in the growth which takes a bit of pressure off the mowing routines. There will be 2 men in each day over the Easter weekend to set the course up - basic course housekeeping and a cut or roll on the greens.

Wednesday produced 5 mm of rain which the course shrugged off - as it will now continue to do all summer. We’ve still had the sprinklers on for a couple of nights, which is unusually early in the season. The greens have also been sprayed with wetting agent and a light feed. The approaches have also been fertilised. Fairways have been cut twice; greens are established in their alternating cut and roll summer pattern, although there is little coming off.

Gavin has installed a drain cover and rodding access point inside the copse behind the 8th tee to allow him to keep the drain, which serves the hollow in front of the 8th Black tee, clear of roots.
