Seniors Open Texas Scramble
Kenny Walker and John Fraser take top spot
In an incredibly tight leaderboard only 2 shots separated the top 11 teams with 7 teams finishing on the same score.
The sun shone, the wind blew and the rain fell at various times during the day but all players agreed the course was in fantastic condition and most enjoyed the format. It certainly provided an exciting conclusion with some great golf, especially from our winners, Kenny Walker and John Fraser from Royal Burgess. Kenny and John had 9 birdies in a gross 62. With a handicap of +1 their 63 was just enough to win by a shot from Darren Howie/Graham Payne (Alloa) and Harburn's John Hogg and Jimmy Thomson. Darren and Graham taking second on back 9 countback. Seven teams finished on 65 with the teams of Lee Jervis and John Daniel Brett and Ronnie Stuart and Stuart Stirling taking 4th and 5th on last 6 holes countback. The results were:
1st K Walker/J Fraser (Royal Burgess) 63 £100 each
2nd D Howie/G Payne (Alloa) 64 (bih) £75 each
3rd J Hogg/JThomson (Harburn) 64 £50 each
4th L Jervis/J Brett (Harburn) 65 (bih 30,17) £40 each
5th R Stuart/S Stirling (Harburn) 65 (bih 30,18) £25 each
Five teams were just edged out of the prizemoney on countback having also scored 65.
