Attached with today's latest news email is the formal Notice of the AGM of Bognor Regis Golf Club (a Company Limited by Guarantee), which will be taking place on Wednesday 9th April 2025 at 6.30 pm in the Clubhouse.

All members attending the AGM this year, will receive one free drink from the bar on arrival. You can collect a voucher from the sign in desk when you arrive.

As previously advised, we have two vacancies for election to the Board. We only have two candidates and they are Norman Lee, and Charles Mackendrick, who is standing for re-election.

The accounts for 2024 are still being finalised. We hope to be able to send them out via email next week.

President's Fairwell

I can hardly believe that my three years as your President are nearly over.

It seems like yesterday that Ian Pettie came to tell me that the Board would like me to follow him as your President. Such a huge, unexpected honour, and one which will always stand out as the highlight of my 54 years as a member of Bognor Golf Club.

When Mark and I came to live in Sussex we were both keen golfers, and having decided to settle in the Bognor area, we began to look at the local golf courses. Not knowing anyone who could influence our choice, we played all the local courses. It was an easy choice in the end because Bognor Regis Golf Club not only provided a good testing course, the welcome we received in the clubhouse was warm and friendly. This has always been the outstanding feature of our Club.

Standing on the first tee to start Open Meetings I have felt immense pride, as visitors, without fail, have remarked on the friendliness throughout the Club - one of the reasons they return year on end to play. This is a tribute not only to our members, but reflects the high standard of service they receive from all our staff, whether in the clubhouse or on the course.

Many things have changed over those 54 years as our Club has moved with the times. We have weathered some difficult periods and have had to make hard decisions, but during those times our Club ethos has been constant. Not only do we now play on a greatly improved course, we have a superb social scene, with something for everyone to enjoy. All this is possible through the hard work of our staff, dedication to their various areas of expertise and the obvious pride they take in what they do.

I wish my successor a wonderful three years. I will miss the faux curtsies and doffing of caps - oh, and the designated parking spot! - but I will never forget the great honour of being your President.
