Please note we are a family club and we try to have a nice relaxed atmosphere.
But we need to ensure that certain things are carried out correctly to ensure that we can continue to run competitions so it’s imperative that members follow the procedures listed below
Tee time Bookings
For Major Competitions, you should book onto the desired booking zone via the Howdidido app or the PSI terminal. Booking zone sign on will be available from the Wednesday two weeks before the competition and will close on the Wednesday before the competition. The committee will then make the draw on Thursday and complete the BRS bookings for which you will receive the notification e-mail.
For standard competitions, BRS booking sheet will be opened at 6pm on Friday evening for Saturday and Sunday 2 weeks prior to the competition date. Book through the BRS app or by calling the shop.
For special competitions e.g. Ryder/Solheim Cup, notices will be sent out by newsletter/posted on notice board with entry requirements.
Procedure for competition entry (rules)
Consult the noticeboard for details of the day’s competition : Format, entry fee, competition tee, preferred lies etc
Check-in at the club shop so that we know who is on the course.
Entry fee to be placed in an envelope and clearly labelled with Name, Day, Date and amount in envelope and placed in competition entry box in the club shop.
Please note that competition fees are in addition to any course fees and MUST be submitted before commencing your round.
You must fill in a card with your details on it
Mandatory items are: Name
NOTE: It is not mandatory to put the Handicap Index, course handicap & Playing Handicap, competition entered, date and tees played from on, but it is recommended.
On completion of the round, you sign your playing partner’s card as the marker once you have both agreed the scores and the details are completed correctly.
Mandatory items are: Gross scores, Marker’s signature & Player’s signature
All players MUST enter their scores online via the Howdidido APP or scores can also be entered via the PSI terminal in the clubhouse. Players unable to do this for any reason must advise the committee.
NOTE. It is a rule of golf that your card is returned signed by your marker and therefore you should also use the "Select marker" facility on the Howdidido app. You should always select your marker’s name when entering your score – not your own name!
All completed cards must be returned into the relevant day scorecard box in the club shop. If, and only IF, the shop is closed i.e. after 4 pm at weekends & after 8 pm on weekdays, cards should be posted in the box on the gable end of the Clubhouse.
Please note that occasionally scorecards will have been collected from the competition boxes prior to you finishing your round and you will be asked to post your card in the external box on the clubhouse – this is to aid the committee in the prompt closure of competitions.
Scorecards MUST be returned for all competitions, even if you have entered your score via Howdidido App or via the PSI terminal.
DO’s & DON’T’s
DO: Read the noticeboard for the day’s competition format/rules, course condition notices & any GUR notices.
DO: Pay the entry fee before starting your round.
DO: Arrive on time at the starting tee for your tee time.
DO: Avoid slow play – keep up with the group in front.
DO: If in doubt, play a provisional ball.
DO: Read the scorecard for the local rules.
DO: Repair pitch marks, replace divots, smooth & rake bunkers.
DO: Players must endeavour to fully record every score for every hole even when NR entered for say a lost ball this does not mean a player must continue to play every hole to completion if struggling and holding up play but for handicap purposes for the rest of the competition the more scores the merrier.
DO: If you have entered a competition, your scorecard must be returned. For future competitions, anyone not returning a card will be disqualified for “undue delay in returning card”.
DON’T: Abuse of club staff, committee members, fellow members or visitors will not be tolerated and will be dealt with by sanctions from the committee.
DON’T: Players must not leave the course mid round unless for a valid reason such as injury or illness and this should be indicated on your scorecard and agreed by playing partners.
Leaving a reduced number of players from a tee time on the course will mean the remaining players will have a long wait between shots and will reduce their enjoyment.
DON’T: Entering a Major draw and then removing your name because you aren’t happy with the players you have been drawn with or you are not happy with your tee time is not acceptable.
DON’T: Any player not going to use their tee time should remove themselves with plenty of notice so that someone else could make use of the spare place.
DON’T: Failure to comply with the rules for competition entry could result in the committee issuing a code of conduct penalty which will consist of a two week suspension from all competitions
REMEMBER: Players are responsible for their own scorecards!
Thank you for your cooperation.
