WCGC Seniors hosted Mullion GC Seniors in their first match of the season on Thursday 20 March. On paper the visitors posted a strong team, with 6 single-digit handicap golfers led by the experienced ex-WCGC member Bob Darnell.

However the hosts, led by new Seniors Captain Dennis Fryer paired with Vice Captain Tom Gair, made good use of their allocated shots to deliver a great 6 1/2 to 1 1/2 victory.

All the home team pairs played their part in challenging windy conditions. Of note, the in-form Larry Whittaker/Richard Webb pairing returned an 7&5 victory, while 3 other home team pairs also returned notable 6&5, 6&5 and 6&4 victories.

David Winks, the team sommelier, expanded his wine cellar again after winning the home team nearest the pin on 15th.
