Starting Saturday, 22nd March, we are removing "Pick, Clean, and Place" through the green.
It will now only be allowed in closely mown areas (e.g., fairways and areas cut to fairway height or less).
Procedure: Lift, clean, and place within 6 inches of the original spot, no closer to the hole.
Not Allowed: Rough, bunkers, or penalty areas.
If you are unsure whether your ball is in a closely mown area (e.g., fairway), please clarify with another player in your group before proceeding.
Reminder: If your ball is embedded in the general area (e.g., fairway, rough), you are entitled to relief under Rule 16.3 of the R&A Rules of Golf. This allows you to lift, clean, and drop the ball within one club length of the spot directly behind where it was embedded, no closer to the hole.
Bunkers Pick, Rake, and Place:
The local rule allowing players to lift, rake, and place their ball in bunkers remains unchanged. You may lift your ball, rake the bunker, and place the ball as near as possible to the original spot, no closer to the hole.
We know that some members are passionate about the bunker rules, and we are pleased to confirm that this local rule will continue to be in place. It will be reviewed again at the same time as the Pick and Place is reomved completely.
