Williamson Qualifier 11
Yesterday was the second last Williamson qualifier of the year, 37 points needed to qualify for the final. Unfortunately only 6 players ended up beating their handicap. It was a difficult morning with frosty greens and some tee boxes moved back.
The winner overall and Division 1 winner was Bryan Cullen with 39 points. He had a very solid front nine with 18 points and 21 points on the back including a birdie 2 on the 17th hole. Tony Armstrong finished in second place with 38 points. Tony had 19 points each nine, unfortunately making a blob on 16 costing him the win. Mark Wildey was in 3rd place with 38 points, he also had the best gross score on the day with a 2 over par 73.
John McWilliams won the second division with 37 points. The only player to play to their handicap in the division. Ian Brierley came in second winning on countback over Stuart Smith with 35 points. Stuart Smith ended up making his first hole in one yesterday on the 4th hole with a 9 iron to a back flag. Congratulations!
There were a total of 18 twos made across the day on all of the par threes.
In the Order of Merit, there was little to no movement at the top. Poor performances from Colin Bannister, Michael Kelly and Andrew Little, and a no show from Simon Pritchard keeps in very interesting going into the final qualifier. Bryan Cullen has put his name in the mix with another good performance.
The last Williamson Qualifier of the year is on the 23rd. There are still spaces available, if you haven't qualified for the final yet make sure you get yourself booked in. See you next weekend!
