What's been happening
Dear member

The sun made a welcome appearance last weekend, short sleeves and shorts were on full display and talk of spring was overheard!
I'm currently looking out the window toward Millbrook church, which can only be faintly seen through the on/off snow and sleet...It seems the wait for Spring goes on!

That said, it did mean last weekends golf was enjoyed by all, we played the first qualifier of 2025 (results sent at start of week) and this weekend sees the first club match of the year V Royston at home.

Talking of club matches, any member that wishes to represent the club at team level, be that:
Senior (over 55 years old and willing to play midweek)
Club Team (all members, weekend matches)
Mid Handicap (6hcp upwards, weekend matches)
Scratch Teams (8hcp & below, mostly weekends)
Seniors Scratch Team (over 55 years old & under 10ish handicap, midweek matches)

Please email me and I'll forward your details to the relevant captains for each team, who will add you to thier respective squads.

MEMBERSHIP
Thanks to everyone that has paid or signed up to direct debit schemes for the forthcoming year. There are still several members that have not paid or failed to communicate if they are leaving or staying. Time is running out to secure your 2025/26 membership. Please make contact with me/the office/pro shop asap.

COURSE:
The course has had a proper trim this week, all playing surfaces have had a cut, plus the tees have been verti-drained, scarified and top dressed, they will also be fertilised....
It's feeling pretty firm under foot but still soft in places, so if those that are able can carry their bags until at least the end of March it will really help with compaction and therefore assist as the grass starts to grow.
We will move back onto grass tees as soon as the ground temperature increases enough to encourage growth, normally late March early April.

SHOP:
Stock levels are starting to build in the shop, the new under armour shoes for 2025 are in stock, Titleist Balls, Bags, Socks and Caps have arrived and the shoes won't be long.
New moto-caddy trolley bags are also in stock. Members get 10% off listed price and we will always try and match online prices if we can, just give us the chance to try.
We also have lots of grips in stock, so now's a good time to get your clubs spruced up before the season really starts...
For every 5 grips you buy we will throw a 6th in free, see Matt or Toby in the shop who will be willing to assist.

CAPTAINS CORNER - ANDY TEAGUE

Whilst I sit here in the gym contemplating on a wonderful drive in weekend and still nursing a sore head I remember why I joined Millbrook way back when.
The drive itself was not so epic or a classic but in its own way it bought the laughs and support you come to expect !
The day was great and the weather was amazing resulting in a monster charity response .
As Rob has already stated the speeches went well, the food supplied by Emma and the team hit the spot.

Down to business the season has started and I wish you all success whether it be an elusive major win and an incremental improvement on the handicap or that well being release on the course from the other pressures of work.
The charity I am supporting is cardiomyopathy and our initial targets are already being smashed but ably supported by Darren, David, John and the rest of the team we hope to reach the peaks my golf cannot.

We are doing the Jurassic Coast walk which is now getting closer and we still have room for a few maniacs that may fancy a yomp around the Devon coastline make new friends and raise cash for a worthy cause.

The social golf starts in a couple of weeks against Royston at home and we welcome new blood to this friendly golf format.

Have a great March and I look forward to updating you on progress in April

Don’t forget the bingo !

Andy's charity of choice this year is Cardiomyopathy. The link below takes you to his just giving page should anyone wish to sponsor his endeavours either below or on the golf course!

JURASSIC COAST WALK
As part of my charity year at the Millbrook I am hoping to create a few shared experiences one of which is a coastal walk on the Jurassic coast 50kms over 2 days 16-17th May 2025.

There will be a just giving page and we are looking for participants to join 16 already committed people.

The walk starts in the Swanage area with a walk to Weymouth, stopover at a premier inn and then 25km day 2, celebrate the task completed and then off home.
To add to that mix I am looking to book golf at the Isle of Purbeck on the Friday and then stopover in Weymouth on the Friday night.

I am hoping that all participants will be able to get sponsorship via the just giving page with an overall target of £10k for the event.

If this is something that you would like to join or need a bit more information or would simply like to support in some way please call me.

We need confirmed interest by the middle of February to book the golf , the walk and the lodgings.

Please email: manager@themillbrook.com if you are interested in taking part.
