Welcome to the latest newsletter from the Handicap & Competitions Committee.
As spring is now almost here and conditions have improved dramatically, the course is starting to extend back to its full length. To that end we have now moved from the blue course to the red course. Please note that with immediate effect and until further notice all competitions will now be played from the red tees using the red course indices and red course stroke allowances.
Entry to the 2025 knockout competitions are now open on V1. Entry will close on 16th March 2025. The draw will be made the following week and will be available on the V1 app and will be sent to entrants by email.
Reminder - To be eligible to enter any of the knockout competitions you must have played in at least five Lee Park Qualifying Competitions in 2024 and have your contact details visible on V1. We regret that no exceptions can be made to these criteria other than for new members who must have a full competition playing record visible on EG for 2024.
The Captains’ Drive-In will take place on Sunday 6th April 2025. Sign-up (Via V1) is expected to go live on Sunday 16th March 2025. A further communication containing all information will be released nearer the time.
Starting at Captain’s Drive-In and continuing through the summer, we are introducing a ‘Mystery Two’s Competition.’ The prize will be a box of 12 Pro V1’s. One of the par 3’s will be designated as the mystery 2’s hole and anyone who scores a two on that hole will either win or share the prize. If there are several 2’s on the designated hole, the winner will be randomly drawn.
As the mixed team competitions have proved so successful this year, we are intending to trial a limited number of these through the summer. They will not exceed one a month and where possible (4bbb) will be acceptable for handicap. These will be played from the yellow tees and there will be a handicap limit of 28 across the board.
On Tuesday 8th April we have been informed that verti-draining work will carried out on the course. Due to this work, there will be no ladies or men’s competitions on this date.
To enable us to give you, the member, what you want, there are a number of issues that we would like to have your feedback and opinion on. To this end, we will, in the next few weeks, release a short survey. We request as many of you as possible to take the time to fill it in. The survey will originate from a company called Players 1st and will be sent to you by email. If you have any difficulty with this survey, a paper copy will be available from the office.
With effect from April 1st, and to deter late cancellations from booked tees, competition entry fees will be deducted from entrants accounts when the start sheet is transferred from BRS to V1 at noon the day before the competition. No refund will normally be allowed.
Following requests from members, the full competition diary is now available to be viewed on V1.
As ever, if you have any questions or comments, please contact us at handicapandcomp@leeparkgolfclub.co.uk
We wish you the best of luck for the upcoming season.
