What's been happening
Dear member

Thank you to everyone that has re-joined this season in a timely fashion, it helps us budget for the year ahead.

It's a really busy time in the office, so my thanks go to the team in the pro shop for helping me out even more than usual, taking payments, dealing with tee bookings, reciprocal golf and societies.
Gemma has been thrown in the deep end, her first month in the office happens to be the busiest month of the year, but as expected, nothings too much trouble and she's coped amazingly well.

The team on the course have been busy on the 7th hole, installing irrigation to the fringes, apron and surrounds. They've made a really neat job of it, to the point you can hardly see where they dug a trench. Donna has been hard at work filling our divots plus general course tidiness and Ade continues his excellent pruning work all over the course. Thank you all!!

The fraud investigation continues, the officer in charge of our case awaits information from the specialist fraud team, once received they have promised a further update, I'm told within the next two weeks. Hopefully we will be able to share more information at this time.

NIGHT GOLF
Night golf was a sell out, 56 players (two groups on every hole) and was enjoyed by the majority that attended. The course looked like an airport/runway, god only knows what people thought as they drove down the A507.
It was seriously good fun but very very difficult, that said and as usual, a few of our savvy members mastered the art and retuned some good scores!

NIGHT GOLF WINNERS:
1st = Lewis Osbourne - 16 points cb
2nd = Richard Benson 16
3rd = Joe Procter 15 cb
4th = Alex Jones 15
5th = Stephen Woodham 14 cb

Thanks for your support of the February Social Night, it was nice to have 50+ people in the clubhouse on a Friday night! The food seemed to be enjoyed, my thanks to Emma and her team for putting on a nice menu for the night....

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN
A sell out event for the second time this weekend, 144 players turned up to see our captain for 2025/26 HIT his opening tee shot.
Please note, I use the term 'Hit' loosely, those in attendance will appreciate and understand what I mean here, as we (all 140+ people) waited with great expectation, anticipating the familiar crack of persimmon wood on Pro V1....
The backswing was nervy, perhaps more jerky than I expected (although I'm told it generally resembles an octopus falling from a tree) I'm not sure where the downswing began but it did and with great speed. In fact the only thing that was heard by all those in attendance was the whoosh of air as club missed ball, striking the tee with such force that the ball managed to jump straight up in the air and land where it started, not quite an air shot but zero yards recorded! (there is a video)
In fairness, our outgoing captain had teed the ball up quite high!!
Whilst slightly embarrassing for Andy, it actually set the tone for the day, all I heard was laughter and quite clearly people having a good time, which is surely what it's all about.
Thanks to Andy for sponsoring his own event! Providing hot drinks, snacks and shots up on the 1st tee and food for everyone upon completion of play, not to mention buying most of the prizes! It made for a great day and a great start to your fundraising efforts!
The guess the drive, raffle and 'buy your drives' meant a shade over £2000 was raised on the day. Thanks to vice captain, David Kyle, Captains PA Darren Leach and Hardeep Bahra for your assistance in selling tickets!

CAPTAINS CORNER - ANDY TEAGUE (incoming)
This will be a regular feature, updated each month

Andy will add to these few paragraphs on a regular basis. As above he got his captaincy year off to a great start with an unmeasurable drive, followed by a mulligan straight out of bounds! Things can only get better!

Andy's charity of choice this year is Cardiomyopathy. The link below takes you to his just giving page should anyone wish to sponsor his endeavours either below or on the golf course!

JURASSIC COAST WALK
As part of my charity year at the Millbrook I am hoping to create a few shared experiences one of which is a coastal walk on the Jurassic coast 50kms over 2 days 16-17th May 2025.

There will be a just giving page and we are looking for participants to join 16 already committed people.

The walk starts in the Swanage area with a walk to Weymouth, stopover at a premier inn and then 25km day 2, celebrate the task completed and then off home.
To add to that mix I am looking to book golf at the Isle of Purbeck on the Friday and then stopover in Weymouth on the Friday night.

I am hoping that all participants will be able to get sponsorship via the just giving page with an overall target of £10k for the event.

If this is something that you would like to join or need a bit more information or would simply like to support in some way please call me.

We need confirmed interest by the middle of February to book the golf , the walk and the lodgings.

Please email: manager@themillbrook.com if you are interested in taking part.
