What's been happening
Dear member

Despite the cold weather, it's been another busy winter week at the club. The seniors were out in full force on Tuesday with over 60 players doing battle in the winter shield. The Wednesday swindles had the best of the weeks weather, someone even told me they were down to short sleeves!

We host the last of our Christmas meals this evening (no...not a typo) for the Saturday morning swindle. Thank you for using the club once again for this event!

Tomorrow we say thank you to Simon Gaulton at the captains farewell greensomes event. My thanks go to Simon for his efforts these past 12 months, Simon has managed to raise over £10,000 for his charity CHUMS which will be presented to the charity in the coming weeks.

We have had several attempted and unfortunately several successful thefts from cars and vans recently. We had another visit from our travelling friends today but Chris the greenkeeper managed to get rid of them without giving out the code for the gate... Not that the barrier stops them!!
PLEASE be vigilant when leaving your car and van in the car park, clubs on the back seat, tools on the front seat, gives these people a green light...

DIVOT BAGS / DIVOTS
Please try and take a divot bag with you when you play. There are several high wear areas, especially in the rough that have been hacked to pieces in the last few weeks. Please either put your divot back in the rough or use the mix to fill it.

QUIZ NIGHT
84 quizzers attended last Friday night, a very successful event with several new faces in attendance. Thank you to the junior section for entering two teams and bringing thier mums and dads!
Fish and Chips were enjoyed by all and as usual a very professional quiz was administered by Emma and her husband Paul, thank you both!

SCRATCH TEAM
Our winter foursomes team took on Beds & County today at Millbrook.
The course was in great shape, greens were amazing given the freezing rain last night. The visiting team were full of praise for our course and Sausage Rolls!
Thanks to Tom Anstee and Simon Durham, we managed to win 2 points to 1 having halved the first two matches.
That's two wins from two games so far....Well done lads.

WINTER LEAGUE
All matches were played on the same date, which meant a really good atmosphere at the club last Sunday. As predicted, the Woodhams, Schell & Richardson, Baron & Lang, Impey & Masters all marched through to the 1/4 finals BUT having been on the receiving end of a good beating, my new favourites for the trophy are Chris Parish and Steve Maguire!
The plate is looking more and more like a battle of the bandits.....My money is on Jennings and Routh!

BINGO NIGHT - FRIDAY - 28th MARCH
Get yourselves ready for the next big Friday night social , the ladies from the infamous Albion bingo nights are doing a special event for our club.
A night of fun and laughs and quite possibly a little bit of money as well.
There will be up to 6 games of bingo dependant on the attendance numbers with prizes plus cash for winners. There is also a fun music bingo and lastly in it to win it.

All for £15 per head , please pay Emma at the bar to secure your space , bring friends and family as it sure to be a great night.

Friday the 28th March arrive from 7 with eyes down at 8 pm.

Also, on the night we will have the first running of the key to the door , a charity raising event! For £5 you have a chance to win three keys to open the door which will win you a substantial prize . Only those present on the night will be able to enter.

CAPTAINS CORNER - ANDY TEAGUE (incoming)
This will be a regular feature, updated each month

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN
The drive-in is full when trying to book on V1, however the event is never full! We will always squeeze extra teams in, so if you haven't already entered and wish to play, email the shop and we will add you into the draw when it's made.

JURASSIC COAST WALK
As part of my charity year at the Millbrook I am hoping to create a few shared experiences one of which is a coastal walk on the Jurassic coast 50kms over 2 days 16-17th May 2025.

There will be a just giving page and we are looking for participants to join 16 already committed people.

The walk starts in the Swanage area with a walk to Weymouth, stopover at a premier inn and then 25km day 2, celebrate the task completed and then off home.
To add to that mix I am looking to book golf at the Isle of Purbeck on the Friday and then stopover in Weymouth on the Friday night.

I am hoping that all participants will be able to get sponsorship via the just giving page with an overall target of £10k for the event.

If this is something that you would like to join or need a bit more information or would simply like to support in some way please call me.

We need confirmed interest by the middle of February to book the golf , the walk and the lodgings.

Please email: manager@themillbrook.com if you are interested in taking part.
