What's been happening
Dear member
Firstly, a huge thank you to the members that have already paid for 2025/26. Just as a reminder, subscriptions are due by 28th February please.
Testament to the popularity of our course, new member enquiries are at an all time high, and have been since Christmas. I'm currently receiving around 20 per week which will once again guarantee a full membership this year.
We have 15 new members that are currently playing off peak golf (after 10am mid week and after midday weekends) up until the 1st March when they can take full advantage of the course as NEW members...
If you see a new face, please say hello!
I'm pleased to welcome Gemma Porter as our new Accounts Clerk, she is more than qualified to operate the clubs accounts having worked for local government in the accounts office. Gemma starts full time (20 to 30 hours per week) as of Monday 10th February, again, please make her feel welcome!
Tonight sees the start of our busy social calendar, Emma, John Mcloughlin and the social committee have worked hard to ensure we have a monthly event throughout 2025 and tonight it's the Quiz! Which is a sell out of 80+ people.
February we have night golf which again is nearing it's capacity of 56 players (some space available on V1)
Then we have a new event for March, BINGO night, described below by Andy Teague who LOVES a bit of Bingo!
BINGO NIGHT - FRIDAY - 28th MARCH
Get yourselves ready for the next big Friday night social , the ladies from the infamous Albion bingo nights are doing a special event for our club.
A night of fun and laughs and quite possibly a little bit of money as well.
There will be up to 6 games of bingo dependant on the attendance numbers with prizes plus cash for winners. There is also a fun music bingo and lastly in it to win it.
All for £15 per head , please pay Emma at the bar to secure your space , bring friends and family as it sure to be a great night.
Friday the 28th March arrive from 7 with eyes down at 8 pm.
Also, on the night we will have the first running of the key to the door , a charity raising event! For £5 you have a chance to win three keys to open the door which will win you a substantial prize . Only those present on the night will be able to enter.
WINTER LEAGUE
It's knockout round 2 this Sunday, the Woodhams remain favourites following the shock exit of Kitching and Cilliers and Abbott and Abbott in round 1.
Schell & Richardson are lurking once again and the McCready / Carpenter pairing are flying under the radar! Mr 47 points and Borromeo make up the likely candidates to be progressing through to round 3.....
FRAUD CASE
At present we are still awaiting further news from the police regarding our stolen funds. The police have kept in contact, but as yet we are unable to confirm/report any real advancement in the case. As promised, we will communicate any advancement as and when we can.
What I should add is that the club is in good shape financially going into the season and it's business as usual.

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN
The drive-in is full when trying to book on V1, however the event is never full! We will always squeeze extra teams in, so if you haven't already entered and wish to play, email the shop and we will add you into the draw when it's made.
JURASSIC COAST WALK
As part of my charity year at the Millbrook I am hoping to create a few shared experiences one of which is a coastal walk on the Jurassic coast 50kms over 2 days 16-17th May 2025.
There will be a just giving page and we are looking for participants to join 16 already committed people.
The walk starts in the Swanage area with a walk to Weymouth, stopover at a premier inn and then 25km day 2, celebrate the task completed and then off home.
To add to that mix I am looking to book golf at the Isle of Purbeck on the Friday and then stopover in Weymouth on the Friday night.
I am hoping that all participants will be able to get sponsorship via the just giving page with an overall target of £10k for the event.
If this is something that you would like to join or need a bit more information or would simply like to support in some way please call me.
We need confirmed interest by the middle of February to book the golf , the walk and the lodgings.
