The Finance Director, Jonathan Nutting, gave an overview of the Club’s finances, announcing there had been a loss of just under £12,000 for the year 2023-24. There had been a fall in membership in the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories of 46 members.
Bad weather had affected the Bar and Catering surplus, the staff had worked hard to produce a contribution 0f £41k. Control of Green’s expenditure was well within budget. There had been an overall saving of £33k across all areas, the largest saving being £8k by cancelling budgeted internal decorations of the Clubhouse. The new 8th tee and green project costing £70k in line with budget.
A number of cost pressure points were outlined, the increase in employer’s National Insurance contributions, expected to cost £10k/annum and the increase in gas and electricity costs amounting to an increase of £17k/annum. This was in addition to the need to repay members’ loans, the Bounce Back loan and the effect of five members paying five years subscriptions to help fund the 8th hole project.
Jonathan requested that if members could pay their subscriptions on receipt of the notices then it would help cash flow.
Election of Directors.
House - Chris Worby was re-elected unopposed for three years
Green - following a ballot Russ Cranston was elected for three years.
Andrew Merrick was ratified as Mens’ Captain and Jamie Illingworth as Vice Captain.
Gail Fry and Penny Hartley were ratified as Lady’s President and Lady’s Captain respectively.
A number of questions were put to the Board and included an update of Jones Homes action was given with regards to planning permission, they are awaiting the Government’s plans.
Concerns were raised over the Club’s communication, it was announced that ClubV1 would be used in the future as the method of informing members.
The President announced that he was reviewing options for the Professional’s shop.
