This year’s format was a team format, best two scores with the added pressure of getting a ‘Xmas Pud’ round too. Prizes of course had that additional festive flavour.
PC Al Gracie (M&H Secretary) ran through the days format and our new Captain Cliff Barrowman was at the helm for the first time, with a warm welcome to the annual Christmas nonsense.
There was a raffle for a very well stocked Christmas Hamper for the Captain’s Charity ‘Home Start’ raising a superb £1300. Many thanks to Glen Frew for organising the hamper and to those who assisted with donations to the contents. Alistair Ainslie, the lucky winner, staggered home with it.
After a week of freezing, foggy weather - winter greens looked odds on. A rise in temperature and the usual tremendous efforts from Paul and his team, we were unbelievably on the full greens and the course was playable.
All enjoyed their golfing experience with the additional seasonal friendly Xmas Spirit. Following our Christmas fare, the majority stayed on till the early evening, soaking up the lovely post golf ambiance and fully embracing the seasonal ‘Xmas Spirit’. Testimony to a great event, many were partaking in ‘the walk of shame’ on Saturdday morning.

I think you will all join with us, the M&H team, in thanking our tremendous Green Keeping staff headed by Paul Hampsey at Killermont and Brian Dickson at Gailes. They take great pride in presenting the courses at their best for us, no matter the time of the year is unrivalled.
At both courses we enjoy a fabulous standard of service from the Clubhouse staff headed by Kevin Frew at Killermont and Jackie Lennon at Gailes. They look after us so well on a daily basis and also at the variety of events held at both courses, throughout the year.
There is a gratuity opportunity if you wish to endorse your appreciation.
