I am delighted to introduce you to Highwood’s new General Manager.
Andrew Smedley is an experienced General Manager with a strong background in golf club management, boasting over a decade of leadership in operations, strategic planning, and team development. Currently, he serves as the General Manager at Hill Barn Golf Club in Worthing, where he oversees all aspects of operations, including membership, grounds, financial performance, and property management.
Previously, Andrew held leadership roles at Nevill Golf Club, where he was promoted from Director of Golf to General Manager. During his tenure, he successfully increased membership income, implemented a new staffing structure, and managed key projects such as a £105,000 drainage system upgrade. Earlier in his career, he served as Head Professional at Walmer and Kingsdown Golf Club.
Andrew holds a BA in Applied Golf Management Studies from the University of Birmingham and has completed advanced professional development, including a shortened MBA program from the University of Brighton. Known for his strong financial acumen, customer service excellence, and strategic leadership. Andrew has a proven track record in Golf Club Management both within Member Clubs and Commercial enterprises.
Andrew currently plays off a handicap of two and looks forward to playing alongside our members. Andrew’s home is in Horam, and he lives with his partner Hollie, and 18-month-old daughter, Mabel.
Andrew’s first day at Highwoods will be Monday 6/1/25 and I know our members will give him a warm welcome.
