With effect from Monday 2nd December, please note that the use of fairways mats is mandatory on all closely mown areas.
Please see the recommended protocol for the usage of fairway mats, including the Temporary Local Rule in play with effect from 2nd December 2024.
To save any shortage of mats, we would encourage as many members as possible to invest in their own mat. As you will have seen from recent communication from the Pro’s shop, Rob is selling Spurk mats at an extremely competitive price. Please ask in the shop for more information.
It is also important to remind members that where a teeing ground has a mat in operation it is not acceptable to tee the ball up either to the side or behind the mat. The designated teeing area comprises the mat when they are in operation. You risk disqualification for failing to do so.
FAIRWAY AERATION
During December, all fairways, walk-off areas and any other areas of suspected compaction will be deeply tined to help with course drainage. This process is vitally important as we try to alleviate the compaction created over the last winter period. The greenkeepers will make every effort to minimize disruption to play but please respect that their activities are in the interest of keeping the course open when these ever-increasing pulses of heavy and intense rain occur.
If a player’s ball lies in or touches an aeration hole:
(a) Ball in General Area: The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b. If the ball comes to rest in another aeration hole the player may take relief again under this Temporary Local Rule.
(b) Ball on Putting Green: The player may take relief under Rule 16.1d. But interference does not exist if the aeration hole only interferes with the player’s stance or, on the putting green, on the player’s line of play.
Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of the Local Rule: General Penalty under Rule 14.7a.
