What's been happening
Dear member
Another good week weather wise, no rain to speak of and fairly calm, basically Ideal winter golfing conditions!
The green keepers have been at maximum capacity once again this week. Those that have played this weekend will notice the bunkers have been shaped and rivetted, turfed around the top edges and left to settle. We await rubber linings and obviously sand however we will most likely wait until early spring before opening the bunkers and mounding fully for play.
Work has also begun on levelling the tees on holes 18 and 14 this week.
Add in constant leaf collection, daily course preparation and being on red alert for disease control ( due to the mild, damp, overcast conditions ) you can understand how busy our little team is. Huge thanks must go to Adrian Walker who continues to work tirelessly on tree pruning, tree canopy heights and general woodland tidiness.
Having played a couple of different venues recently, I'm really proud of our golf course, we continue to invest not only money but time and thought into the 'golfing experience' and it really shows.
YONEX GOLF CLUBS
We have a Yonex fitting day on Friday this week, 15th November. Yonex are a huge brand in the far east, and renowned for the quality of thier products. It's completely free to members, just turn up between 10am and 2pm, in the swing shed, and have a go....
BEDFORDSHIRE COUNTY WINTER SCRATCH FOURSOMES
Our team took on Chalgrave yesterday, at home.
Team of Aidan Abbott & Paul Kitching, Rob Brightman & Connor Tallentire and Tom Anstee & Mark Abbott all winning in style. a 3-0 victory in our first game this winter.
Well played team!
All players remarked on the quality of the course, especially the greens which were running beautifully. On behalf of both teams, thanks to the green staff!
CAPTAINS CHARITY WALK 2025
As part of Andy Teagues Captains year, Andy would like to encourage 30+ members to join him on a sponsored walk of 50 Kilometres along the Jurassic coast, this is a two day walk, potentially a game of golf on the journey down, and two nights accommodation. The date of this event will be 17th and 18th May, more details will follow however feel free to talk to Andy for more info. At this stage, Andy is trying to gauge interest.
