Prize Giving Evening
Friday 1st November 2024
Just over 100 winners/runners-up and their partners had a very enjoyable evening as forty odd trophies and prizes were presented.

Only a Club with the longevity of GGC can put on such a display of Silverware. It is just amazing to think that some prize-winners were lucky enough to hold a trophy or medal that our predecessors held some 150 years ago.

Following a finger buffet, we kicked off the prize-giving. Continuing on a food theme with our Gailes Winter Knock-out - won by the ‘Twa Soups’ Alan Baxter & Gregor Campbell.

The star of the evening was Jack Adair with his variety of partners that earned him five trophies and a Runners-Up Medal (The Hogg Memorial & Summer Fourball won with father Scott). All members will be pleased to know that Jack is taking a year out to explore Australia - hopefully it will give the rest of us a chance next year.

Another notable prize-winner was our first Junior girl on the podium Carla Burns, runner-up to Murdo McDonald in the Junior Singles Knock-out Cup. Unfortunately Carla couldn’t attend.

Well deserved prizes went to The Junior Team and our Club Team. They were both highly praised for their continued domination of the DCL Leagues and indeed within the Glasgow Golf Union.

Finally we tipped our caps to our Senior Club Champion Robbie Chrystie and to the fantastic quality of golf that was played by Neil Macrae and Clark Nelson in our Club Championship Final.

Clark our 2024 Club Champion, finished the evening with the Champions acceptance speech, congratulating all the winners and runners-up and he reiterated how privileged we are to play for such a fabulous array of Trophies throughout the season.

Clark voiced his appreciation on behalf of us all, regarding the support roles played by our green-keepers, catering staff and M&H administrators, who jointly contribute to our enjoyment of the GGC Competitions experience throughout the year.

Congratulations to all that earned an invitation to the 2024 Prize-giving and good luck in next year’s competitions.
