WCGC 1st round match in The President’s Cup saw the team travelling to Looe GC to play Bowood. A tree lined course under soft conditions perhaps gave the advantage to Bowood but a new look team with three rookie players were in no mood to allow our opponents to take any advantage.

The experienced Steve Turner got the team off to a flying start winning 3 & 2 (all that practice is playing dividends Steve ??). Our new recruit, Scott Harrington played particularly solid winning 3 &1, but our other rookie Mark Williams came up against Bowoods Captain who was in no mood to allow WCGC the momentum.

Charl Van Niekerk continued his current fine form winning 6 & 4 but Fred Horsell our final rookie found his opponent shoot 3 over gross off 11 handicap loosing 3 & 2. No worries though, with the match 3 v 2 in WCGC favour our tail of Dean Goddard, Andy Postans, Ollie Naylor and Captain Warwick Holland all produced sub par rounds to all win their remaining matches by a margin. An overall win of WCGC 7 v 2 Bowood means we progress handsomely to the next round to face Tehidy Park on 1st December
