GGC v New Club St Andrews
Sunday 29th September 2024
On Sunday 29th September we welcomed our guests from New Club St Andrews to our annual club match which was hosted at Killermont House. Our guests arrived by coach and were warmly welcomed by our team, PC Iain Lockhart took some of their members for a tour of Killermont House and they were very complimentary of the changes that have been made. Julie and her team looked after us superbly throughout the day and our guests enjoyed the hospitality that was provided.

September weekend gave us an unseasonably warm day which showcased the course superbly with all our guests being complimentary of the course even though a "few trees jumped out on them" which they aren't used to. Paul and the team had the course set up well and was a fair test of golf as we would expect. The matches were played in great spirit with many going the full 18 holes.

Before dinner we presented their Captain Andy White with a copy of Nevin's book on the history of Glasgow Golf Club "Anent the Golf", our Captain Peter McEachran was presented with a copy of The New Club St Andrews book detailing the history of their club which was graciously received on behalf of the club.

It was noted by their Captain that Covid was a good year as it broke the undefeated run that Glasgow Golf Club had in this fixture, our team lived up to the challenge and the match was won by the home team 7 - 1. Thank you to all the members that participated including a few late stand ins who will now be looking forward to our visit to St Andrews next year.
