ESN DUO BEATEN BY THE WEATHER
Hands so nearly on the Trophy!!
Dean Plant & Tom Foreman (pictured) were getting ready to accept the Copthorne Men's Open Trophy until the weather intervened.
The day started in beautiful sunshine and scoring was excellent.
Jack Bartlett & Nigel Harrington (Worthing) led the way with a -9 , 63 to lead by one from two ESN pairings , Lee Drew & Steve Graham -8, 64 and Dean Plant & Tom Foreman also with a -8, 64.
The morning Leaders scored -3, 69 ( -12 total ) in the afternoon with Lee Drew & Steve Graham only managing -2, 70 (-10) , it was left for Dean & Tom to see if they could take the club house lead, which they did courtesy of an afternoon round of -5, 67 and -13 total.

As fellow players started to congratulate the ESN pairing, clouds gathered and with only a few groups left to complete their afternoon round, the heavens opened, and play was suspended. There was no break in the weather and as the lightning cracked overhead, organisers were left with little choice other than cancelled the 2nd round and reduce the event to 1 round.

This demoted Dean & Tom into 3rd place, with Lee Drew & Steve Graham finishing 2nd behind the Worthing pair.

Incredible bad luck for Dean & Tom who in the eyes of those competing for the scratch prizes were worthy winners.
