What's been happening
Dear member

Dare I say.......
It's almost been a dry week!
The team on the course have managed to cut almost every blade of grass, including the rough on the 15th! The course is therefore looking and playing beautifully.

With The Masters on TV this weekend, for me it always signals the start of the season. Whilst it's been a bit slow to start this year, the last few weekends at the club have been action packed and once again tomorrow we will have a full field of people for the Captain V Vice Captain Cup.
Proceeds of which go to the charity of the winner!
We are asking all competitors to ensure they are here before 8am, when the draw will be performed, opponents selected and starting holes issued.

DIVOT BAGS:
A huge thank you to all of our members that continually take a divot bag onto the course. The carry only rule has affected the number of people able to carry both their clubs and a divot bag but now trolleys are being used more and more we ask that all members take a divot bag please.
There is now divot mix in the boxes on holes 2, 5, 7, 10,13, 14 and 16 in order for you to re-fill the bags. It really does make a huge difference to our fairways, so thank you in advance!
The green staff would also like to thank Mark Abbot for his assistance with divoting and Ade Walker for his continued tree pruning services! Thank you very very much guys!

CHAMPION SWINDLE
The champion swindle event was played last Sunday and once again it was a huge success. It's becoming the event to win for year round bragging rights amongst our swindle groups.
The much hyped true rollers failed to deliver the main prize, I think the conversation three days prior to the event went something like.... "the trophy has already been engraved"
In addition to that, last years defending champions were not to be found amongst the prizes....Which was also a big surprise to many!
The next surprise was the winning team, It just goes to prove that it doesn't matter what it looks like, it's the score you write down that counts! In seriousness, some very good golf under the pressure of not letting the team down!! Well played guys, winning on countback, taking all three back 9's into consideration!

1st = Mark Griffiths & Sam Woodham, Darren Leach & Darren Hitchings, Andy Teague & Hardeep Bahra

2nd = Simon Durham & Joe Procter, Sean Deveraux & Gareth Loadman , Sam Holmes & Dan Holmes

3rd = James Feesey & Dan Parkes, Pete Mott & Ade Walker, Connor Boyle & Sean Tierney

COMPETITIONS 2024/25
We have made some changes to the running/costings of all weekend competitions at the club.

Friday Stablefords remain unchanged, £5 entry, optional £1 2's club.

Saturday & Sunday Stablefords/Strokeplays will cost £6 but will include a ball sweep.
There will not be a 2's club
There will be nearest the pin prizes on all par 3's and winners will now receive £10 (was £5)

Majors will be £7 including a ball sweep
There will also be nearest the pin prizes on the 7th & 16th and winners will receive £20

When you enter a weekend competition, you will now be charged at time of entry not on the day at sign in.
This is to try and encourage players not to enter, unless they are 100% sure they can play, limiting the last minute dropouts that cause havoc on the day.
Players will be refunded if they withdraw before the draw is made.
If a player has a genuine reason for withdrawing after the draw is made, then a refund will be granted, if not, you will loose your entry fee.

The Knockout Competitions are open to all members, you must enter prior to he draw date of 19th April.
THE PUTTER & FOURSOMES ARE MAJOR COMPETITIONS Players must have played three qualifying competitions in the previous 365 days prior to the date of the first round match. If you are a new member, having joined in the last 6 months, this reduces to two qualifying competitions.

JUNIORS are permitted to play in all competitions and this is actively encouraged by the club. We would like to advise adult members that due to safeguarding policies, an adult cannot play with a junior member as a two ball without either a third person or parent/guardian present. It may therefore be necessary for a parent or guardian of the junior to walk around / caddy for the junior.
