Hugh Dickson Trophy
Friday 5th April
The Hugh Dickson Trophy, is a competition played annually between former and current members of Glasgow Golf Club Council (Captain’s Committee & Board). Hugh Dickson was Captain in 1947 & 1948, Champion in 1935, Captained Scotland and was President of the Scottish Golf Union.

Unfortunately heavy rain throughout the day, ahead of the arrival of Storm Kathleen, forced the closure of the course. Disappointed but relieved that the heavy rain had tipped the decision in favour of abandonment, we gathered for Dinner in the evening.
The traditional ‘Black Tie’ Dinner, in honour of the immediate past Captain is held in the evening, this year we honoured Donald Neilson.

The Past Captain, like the holder of The Masters, has the choice of food at his Dinner. Needless to say Fish was on the menu.

Captain Peter’s light hearted speech highlighted PC Donald’s numerous achievements on and off the course, in his year of office.

A lovely occasion for Donald, especially to share his moment with father and Past Captain Bobby Neilson (1988). We took a moment together in silence, in respect of Bobby’s good friend and well respected Past Captain Jack Halley (1987), who sadly recently passed.
