Latest Information
And they're off!!
Good afternoon all.

Here’s the latest news & information from the club.

RACE NIGHT
Firstly, on the 25th May we are holding a Race Night in what will be our first clubhouse event of the year so we are hoping to see as many members as possible in attendance in what is usually a great night with a lot of entertainment along the way! Tickets are £6 each, this includes a pie & peas supper & a raffle ticket. Tickets are for sale behind the bar.
You can also buy tickets for Horse, Jockeys, Trainers & Owners. These are just £2 each. Have a go & try your luck. Sheets for these are also behind the bar and in the Pro Shop.
Hopefully once we are under starters orders, there’ll be no fallers but plenty of winners on the night!

BUGGIES
Now the course as recovered sufficiently to allow 2 seater buggies on the course, we can offer members a season ticket for the new electric buggies we have. If you are interested in this offer, please contact the Office or the Pro Shop for more details.

LADY CAPTAINS DRIVE IN
Our Lady Captain, Sue Butterfield, eventually gets to play her Drive In this Sunday. I’m sure we would all like to wish Sue a great day Sunday & throughout the year.

COMPETITION GOLF & GENERAL PLAY
We very much hope that by this weekend we will be able to allow scoring for handicap purposes. We are just a little concerned that at the moment we have not been able to get all the rough cut, which could be a hindrance to the pace of play, an ongoing problem I hasten to add. As usual, if you are unsure as to whether you may find your ball or not, please play a provisional. All being well though we will stick to the schedule & the Walt Bailey will be the first major of the year.
Pitchmark’s are another noticeable problem that are forever on the agenda. PLEASE repair your own & at least one other when on a green. It’s your course please look after it.

TEAMS
Our Ladies B team have carried their great form from last season through to this one with a 4 – 3 win at Hallamshire GC on Tuesday. Well done to all participants.
Our Gents Scratch team have suffered two defeats in their opening matches unfortunately. Possibly a knock-on effect of not playing as much golf as we normally would have at this time of year. Their next match is on the 22nd at home to Silkstone GC so the guys have a few weeks to hone their games. Please do come along and support them if you can.
The 6-18 team have their first match tonight at home against Dore & Totley followed quickly by an away match at Roundwood on Tuesday. Good luck to them in their quest for a 3rd promotion in a row. Again, anyone who can get along and support us, on what promises to be another sunny evening, is most welcome.
Our Rabbits & Seniors teams have only played a couple of matches so far, obviously a lot of rearrangements due to conditions, but the Rabbits are at Sandhill today & the Seniors follow them over on Monday. Good luck to both teams.

SOCIAL MEDIA
If you aren’t already, please do follow us on our various social media platforms. This is a great way to help the club with any promotions by sharing their posts. We will hopefully start having more information posted on these channels throughout the year. You can find us on Facebook X/Twitter and Instagram all under wathgolfclub.

RACE TO SAWGRASS
Another reminder about our partnership with the Race to Sawgrass 2024 group.
With Saturday, hopefully, being the first qualifying comp of the season, now's your first opportunity to submit a round for the Race to Sawgrass 2024 and compete for over £2,000 worth of prizes in May alone. Not joined the competition yet - find out more here https://elbanditosgolf.co.uk/ Remember for every Wath Member that joins, 20% of your subscription goes back into the club.

That’s all for now. Enjoy the rest of your week.
