Suffolk County Men's Foursomes Championship
Gorleston Proud to Host - Sunday 28th April
Forty three pairs came from all around the County to try and win the first County Men's event of the year.

It is always hard getting a course in top notch condition this early in the season, even more so for a coastal course and the cold April winds.

Danny Perring and his team did a fantastic job, with many of the top players in the County saying how excellent the course was.

With some morning showers and the usual strong breeze we are used to the golf was certainly a challenge The best gross score of the day was in the morning from Alan Revell & Alan Henry (Bungay) 72 , but many struggled to break 80. Gorleston’s leading pair were Jack Butcher & Ben Leuty 79. They followed this up with a gross 73 in the afternoon and then had a long wait to see if they may win.

The morning leaders slipped to an 81, to fall one short of the Gorleston pair’s total. But Jack Cardy & Will Wright (both county players , plus figure handicaps and previous winners needing a 77 to tie Jack & Ben's score . They couldn't achieve this scoring 81, illustrating how challenging our course can be on a windy day. So Jack and Ben are County Foursome's Champions first to achieve this since Alex Holmes and Adam Hasell in 2010.

This was Jack and Ben’s first major county title , although Ben has been in form winning the Handicap prize at last year's singles championship.

Not only did Gorleston come out superbly on the day with the course in great condition, food excellent and a group of fantastic volunteers all being praised, a further lovely unexpected result came in from the course.

In the week leading up to the event a number of players dropped out, possibly seeing the forecast, so we were asked to find a reserve pair.

Tommy Hunt and Billy Ellis kindly offered, but as of Saturday night they were not needed, come Sunday morning 8.15 they were and with only 35 minutes to get here and tee off they turned up with big smiles and Billy very excited to play in a County Championship. Not only did they take part, they happened to win the handicap prize wrapping up a brilliant all round day for the Club
