Carter's Sunflowers
Dear Members,
I am delighted to announce that this year, our club will be supporting Carter’s Sunflower, a truly remarkable local nursery located in Welwyn Garden City. This nursery specializes in providing care for children with Autism, social communication needs, and related conditions. Recently, I had the privilege of spending time with these incredible children, and I was deeply inspired by the dedication of Sarah Percival and her team.
Carter’s Sunflowers plays a vital role in the lives of these children, many of whom have had negative experiences in traditional educational settings. The nurturing environment provided by the nursery allows these children to flourish and learn in ways that suit their individual needs. Communication difficulties are a significant challenge for these children, and the nursery works tirelessly to provide specialist approaches to support their development.
As a non-profit nursery, Carter’s Sunflowers relies on the generosity of supporters like us to continue their essential work. In September, they will be moving to a larger building to accommodate more children and families. One of their goals is to create a sensory room, a calming environment where children can recharge and engage in interactive play and learning through light, sound, and touch technology.
I am confident that our club will rally together to support this worthy cause. Stay tuned for upcoming fundraising events, including auctions, and opportunities to lend a helping hand as they embark on this exciting transition.
